Community Garden to be planted at Friendship House | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
Community Action Partnership of Kern announced the building of a community garden at the newly reopened Friendship House Community Center.
The garden will be managed and cared for by people in the community and will teach youth and families the skills to grow their own foods. The 1,000-square-foot garden will also help to encourage proper nutrition through healthy eating habits and increased access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
This community project is supported by a grant from South Kern Building Healthy Communities and a donation of supplies and volunteers from The Home Depot.
The community is invited to participate in the project and help with the planting of the garden, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Friendship House, 2424 Cottonwood Road.
